Everything I do is a matter of heart, body and soul. I am like a freight train. Working on the details, twisting them and playing with them over the years, but always staying on the same track. Even Michelangelo got paid for doing the Sistine Chapel. To those artists who say they’re doing it for the love of art, I say: Get real. My shows are about the complete woman who swallows it all. It’s a question of survival. Attention to detail is of utmost importance when you want to look good.
Dressing up. People just don’t do it anymore. We have to change that. I love to design things that people can actually buy. I’m staggered by what a boot costs today. Elegance isn’t solely defined by what you wear. It’s how you carry yourself, how you speak, what you read. I like the body. I like to design everything to do with the body. Fashion should be fun. It shouldn’t be labelled intellectual.
